85 Minutes in Water

+

This project is dedicated to the victims of the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka Dam on 06/06/2023. The number of deaths and the scale of destruction are yet to be calculated since most of the flooded territory is still under Russian occupation.

“85 minutes is the time I’ve spent in an aquarium filled with water in an attempt to visualize the tragedy. The glass of the aquarium walls is reminiscent of the glass retorts in a science lab.
In the same way, the whole of Ukraine now is home to a large and horrific experiment. The entire world is watching us, wondering how much more suffering can we endure and how many of us will survive.

The world wants to see if we are valiant enough, smart enough, and if are we capable of getting corruption under control. They want to see what new countermeasures to Russian attacks our military will invent. This glass wall also represents a myriad of gadgets’ screens. Sometimes I joke that Netflix did a great job preparing our world for war, so it’s difficult to surprise people with anything.”
